EFSCRJ Joined Citizens to Demand Accountability and Reliable Utility Services

NAWEC Must Deliver, Citizens Must Demand

EFSCRJ stands with citizens in demanding reliable electricity and water services and accountability from NAWEC and relevant authorities.

The current utility crisis is not the result of a lack of funding, expertise, or resources. Over the past decade, billions of dalasi have been invested in the energy sector, yet Gambians continue to endure persistent blackouts, water shortages, economic losses, and daily hardship.

The real challenge is poor governance, weak leadership, corruption, inefficiency, and the lack of accountability. These issues have been repeatedly highlighted in audits, parliamentary inquiries, and official assessments.

We therefore support GALA’s 10-day ultimatum to NAWEC and call on all citizens to stand together in demanding efficient service delivery and accountability through lawful, peaceful, and democratic means.

The Constitution is clear: sovereignty resides in the people. Citizens have both the right and the duty to defend and protect the Republic by holding public institutions accountable.

Reliable Electricity and Water Are Rights, Not Privileges

The Republic is in the Hands of Citizens to Keep.
