EFSCRJ Calls for the Resignation or Removal of Imam Baba Leigh from the National Human Rights Commission

EFSCRJ calls on Imam Baba Leigh to resign from the National Human Rights Commission or be removed through due process following his tribalist remark that “the Mandinka always like to be angry.” A Commissioner entrusted with defending equality, dignity and non-discrimination cannot engage in negative ethnic stereotyping and expect to retain the moral authority and public confidence necessary for such an important office. Tribalism has no place in public service, and discrimination has no place in a human rights institution. There must be one standard for everyone.
