EFSCRJ Stands with Citizens Demanding Reliable Power and Accountability

THE PEOPLE DESERVE ELECTRICITY. THE PEOPLE DESERVE ANSWERS.

EFSCRJ stands in solidarity with citizens protesting the persistent electricity crisis and Banjul and beyond.
Prolonged blackouts are disrupting healthcare, water supply, businesses, schools, households and livelihoods, and putting lives at risk. Reliable electricity is essential to human dignity and the enjoyment of fundamental rights.
We call on Government to treat this as a national crisis, provide answers and account for the resources invested in the electricity sector.
We also urge the Police to respect and protect the constitutional right to peaceful protest and exercise maximum restraint.
Citizens must equally exercise their right responsibly and peacefully, without violence, destruction of property, hate speech or inflammatory conduct.
Peaceful protest is democracy in action. Accountability is the answer.
