EFSCRJ Welcomes with Concern the NHRC Report on the State of the Prisons

Deprivation of liberty is no licence to strip people of their dignity.

EFSCRJ welcomes the NHRC’s prison and police monitoring report but condemns the degrading conditions it exposes. Years after the Government accepted key TRRC prison reform recommendations, promises have yet to deliver humane detention.

We demand urgent action, a costed implementation plan and public accountability. We also reiterate our request to visit prisons.
