Two Court Rulings. One Wake-Up Call.
In just two days, two courts exposed a disturbing truth.
The Supreme Court ruled that the Police acted unconstitutionally in forcibly evicting former Auditor General Momodou Ceesay from his office.
The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court then threw out the criminal case against GALA members Kemo Fatty, Alieu Bah, and Omar Saibo Camara, holding that the Police had failed to establish even a prima facie case.
These are not isolated mistakes. They are symptoms of a growing pattern of abuse of power, selective law enforcement, and disregard for the Constitution.
A democracy cannot survive when those entrusted to enforce the law are repeatedly found by the courts to have broken it.
The Constitution is not a mere piece of paper. Human rights are not privileges. Police powers are not political tools.
EFSCRJ calls on the President, the Attorney General, the Inspector General of Police, and the National Assembly to act decisively to restore professionalism, accountability, and respect for the rule of law.
Justice must not end with court judgments. It must lead to institutional reform and individual accountability.
No one is above the Constitution. Not even those who enforce the law.
