EFSCRJ Releases July 2026 Human Rights Report

The Edward Francis Small Centre for Rights and Justice has released its Human Rights Incident Report for July 2026, produced under our Monitoring, Documentation and Accountability program. The report documents eight significant incidents affecting the rights, dignity, and safety of people in The Gambia and assesses their implications for human rights protection, public safety, child protection, law enforcement, and accountability.

Eight incidents documented. Six involved assault or fatal violence. Three fatal stabbings occurred within just 13 days, including the deaths of two children.

This is more than crime statistics. It is a warning about the safety and future of our children and young people.

EFSCRJ calls for urgent action on youth violence, child protection, police accountability, unsafe migration, and access to justice. Arrests and prosecutions alone are not enough. We need prevention, protection, rehabilitation, and accountability.

No child’s life should be cut short, and no child’s future should be lost to violence.
