  • Our Five Strategic Components (2025–2027)

The EFSCRJ’s strategic plan is built on five core components, each targeting critical areas of human rights and democratic governance in The Gambia. These components work synergistically to foster an open, just, and equal society. Below is an overview of each: 

  1. Freedom: Protecting fundamental freedoms and civil liberties. 

Expected Impact:

  • Reduced repression of civic freedoms. 
  • Stronger legal protection for dissent and activism. 
  • Equality: Eliminating discrimination and promoting inclusion. 

Expected Impact:

  • Reduced systemic barriers to equality. 
  • Greater participation of underrepresented groups in public life. 
  • Empowerment: Building civic awareness and agency for rights advocacy. 

Expected Impact:

  • An informed, active citizenry capable of holding leaders accountable. 
  • Increased voter turnout and participation in governance. 
  • Transparency: Ensuring open governance and access to information. 

Expected Impact:

  • Reduced corruption and misuse of public resources. 
  • Greater trust in government institutions. 
  • Accountability: Strengthening the rule of law and reducing impunity. 

Expected Impact:

  • Faster justice delivery for victims of abuses.
  • Reduced impunity for human rights violators. 

These five components – Freedom, Equality, Empowerment, Transparency, and Accountability – form a holistic framework to advance EFSCRJ’s mission. By addressing governance gaps and empowering citizens, the plan aims to create a Gambia where human rights are universally upheld, and institutions serve the people justly.
